FALL PASTORS FORUM BRINGS DYNAMIC SPEAKER TO CAMPUS

“Challenging, thought-provoking, incredibly engaging!” These are among the many positives pastors were using to describe Dr. Steve DeNeff, the Fall Pastors Forum presenter. The large group who gathered on campus to hear Dr. DeNeff was joined by an even greater number participating via live streaming.

Sponsored twice yearly by the Resource Center for Pastoral Leadership at SNU (RCPL), the Pastors Forum is known across the South Central Region and beyond for its consistent quality of presenters at low or no cost to pastors. The mission of the RCPL to equip, resource and encourage pastors was advanced in great measure by Dr. DeNeff’s engaging discussion of “Doing Ministry in the New Religious Economy.” Pastors were challenged to think about ministry in the midst of our cultural shifts and consider what the relevance and value of the church might be in their community.

Steve DeNeff currently serves as lead pastor of College Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana and is a sought-after speaker and leadership trainer. He has authored more than a dozen books, including SoulShiftFault Lines and The Way of Holiness.

The RCPL at SNU recently announced the release of this dynamic presentation as a free resource on their website. Visit http://rcpl.ebasd.com/ and click on Dr. DeNeff’s image to access the video seminar. For Nazarene pastors, a Life-long Learning code is provided for 3 credit hours.

NATIONALLY KNOWN YOUTH LEADER BRINGS FALL REVIVAL MESSAGES

The campus of Southern Nazarene University recently experienced a week of spiritual renewal through Fall Revival. Students gathered for worship and responded to the ministry of Stretch Dean, a 25-year veteran youth leader and dynamic preacher.

Dr. Blair Spindle, SNU’s Campus Pastor and Dean of the Chapel, said, “We had a great revival with Pastor Stretch Dean. Stretch is currently the Lead Pastor at Wollaston, MA Church of the Nazarene and his years of experience communicating with youth made the services especially engaging. His passion was contagious, and many students felt God really spoke through him this week.”

With messages that challenged students, faculty and staff, Stretch creatively shared scripture and truths about getting to know Christ in ways that lead to deeper faith, learning what being adopted into the Kingdom really means, and understanding the majesty of God’s creation of each of them, revealing His authority as the Son of God.

AREA CHURCHES STORM THE FIELD IN ARKANSAS

When the Crimson Storm Football team arrived in Central Arkansas October 5th to take on the Harding University Bison, they got a boost in the cheering section, thanks to the efforts of the area’s Nazarene churches.

A Crimson Storm Tailgate Party was hosted by several area churches, most of whom collaborate on several events each year as the Eastside Nazarene Fellowship. These pastors and lay leaders provided food, bounce-house fun for the kids, and lots of fellowship prior to the game. Head coach, Andy Lambert, and his staff stopped by to thank the hosts and greet all the tailgaters. The North Arkansas District leadership was well represented by Supt., Dr. Mark Lindstrom, and his family – all in their SNU attire and ready to cheer for the Storm.

Lead Pastor at Searcy, AR, Randall Beaty, said this of the event: “All of the pastors who helped host the party really enjoyed getting to meet Coach Lambert and connect with SNU alums and friends from other churches in the area. It’s always a win for us when we partner with our university, and I think we laid the groundwork for a great tradition here. We’re looking forward to working with SNU’s Alumni Relations team to make this an even bigger success in the future.”
